Do You Feel Heard?

Well, today was the first day of Kindergarten for Ryerson. A year’s worth of prayers went into this day and I’ll tell you, God answered. He answered MY prayers, that is. Ryerson prayed daily that the school would get destroyed. I prayed for peace for my sweet, anxious boy.

This is a hard lesson, but read closely. God doesn’t always answer our prayers the way we want Him to, but He always hears and He cares deeply.

Back in November Ryerson prayed that he would see a fossil. I remember feeling sad. Ry was already struggling to believe that God answers our prayers and I honestly had zero faith that we would be able to see a fossil.

Within a week of that precious prayer, we were strolling through the mall when I stopped dead in my tracks in disbelief.

These fossils are everything. In an instant my heart was pounding and I was so excited to show Ryerson. “See! He hears you!”

So when today came along I remembered those fossils and I sent my baby boy off into that school without me, praying John 14:27 as his dad and I walked away.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

I’ll continue praying for that peace for my boy, and I’ll be praying it for you too, Friend. Just remember that even if your school isn’t destroyed, or even if you don’t see that fossil, God still hears and cares deeply about your desires. He loves you more than His own life.

  1. What a great verse Ashley. I have felt his peace so much this week as I anticipated surgery. It could only have come from Him! I just needed to remember His promises and how much He loves me. Thanks for sharing!

    1. I’m so thankful we have a God who draws near to us when we feel anxious, and He gives us peace that surpasses our understanding. I’m so glad your surgery went well. For now, enjoy this time to rest. 🙂
